Lesson 13: Another Full Song One thing you should always remember, "A guitarist is only as good as the music he plays." To put that another way: the theory is great, studying scales and chord charts, practicing speed excersizes, all good, but you can't forget about getting out there and learning songs. The songs your learning need to be a challenge too. A good indicater of your playing level is if you can remember songs. For example, learning a complicated song from a classic band like guns' n roses, will take a while. The songs aren't easy, you'll want to play along to the tracks to nail all the different parts, and come back to it day after day until you have really mastered it. You'll even remember the basic parts because your playing them so often between the tough parts. A song you memorize, is at a good level for you to be learning.
On the other hand, if your getting songs that are simply chords, or single note patterns you see, can play, then don't remember the next day, I highly recommend learning some more advanced stuff. Your obviously ready for it, your not benefiting from playing one time songs that your not going to remember the next day. You've got absolutely nothing to lose. Since I don't know what level your at it's hard for me to recommend the perfect song for you. The song I'm posting the link for, is a multi-level song so to speak. You've got the opportunity to learn the picking parts for the song, and there are some cool solo bits, but there are also simple chords if your interested in learning new chord shapes and applying them. Feel free to search the net for more songs if you don't like this one (although you'd be crazy if you didn't, it's a classic ;)
