Lesson 8: Major Chords Major chords are one of the most common forms of chord. Very popular in classic songs, they are known and used by all guitar players and musicians. Advanced soloing is often based on the scales associated with chord changes throughout the song, we cover soloing in a later lesson. Here I'll post the major chords and a very popular easy form of blues to you can play with only three chords. The most common major chords are G, C, D, and A. There have been mny songs written with only this selection. To read the following chord diagrams you've got to understand tab. Notice the strings are in the same place as a tab scale. In these diagrams the notes are typed in however, and the fret you play is actually drawn in. G Major There is a technique blues players use called the 12-Bar Blues. The 12 bar blues formula is this:
